39: Family Matters

The FTC is continuing to spread holiday cheer to all those who might congregate a bit too closely this time of year, gifting a $520 Million fine to Epic Games. Rich and I spill more than a few words on family safety for online gaming, and stumble headlong into the Internet of Things and the new Matter standard. Happy holidays to all, and…

38: Raised by Neverworld

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the stream, HBO Max and Warnermedia have decided to execute some popular and beloved properties, leaving us to navigate more ethically murky streaming waters if we want to experience their content. A detour back into the FTC complaint towards Microsoft’s pending acquisition is in order, and we wrap with a quick rundown of some TV and gaming stops for our past week.

37: God of aWards

The Game Awards are here, brimming with world premiere trailers, celebrity surprises, and, in a totally surprising upset, approximately 412 wins for God of War: Ragnarok. Rich and I wind through our impressions of the reveals, as well as a brief bit catching up on all of the recent Activision-Blizzard-King acquisition news.

36: A SMPTE of The Sickness

Welcome To Interscription

We have returned from the US Thanksgiving holiday filled with cheer, football, pie and stories about bigger TVs. This week has us tackling Rich’s completed thoughts on Deathloop, a great pitch to me on getting around to Andor finally, and some nods to this month in gaming history.

35: Zombie. By the Cranberries.

As the slide into Thanksgiving in America here in 2022 is in full effect, we reflect on the only right way to cranberry, why pie and steak are basically the same, and yes, TV shows and movies too. George Miller’s newest movie, the shambling end of The Walking Dead, and Rich People Doing Stuff At Hotels are our targets this week, along with finding sweatpants to accommodate our lust for desserts. Happy Turkey Day!

34: Keeping Score of Font Survivors

Contrary to popular opinion, homework is in fact fun! Join us this week as we work through a trio of Game Pass releases and their various flavors, and make a stop in Wakanda for the new Black Panther movie. And Rich categorically answers the question, “What’s in a score?”

33: Flight of the Winter Fonts In Somer

With a veritable avalanche of patches, updates and pre-Christmas blockbuster titles launching, this week is all about the games! Join us as we meander through the conversation of first party games and their place in an evolving landscape of subscription services, making a stop at some worthwhile upgrades to some established games, and a quick chat about the final deets on the PSVR2 before its launch this February.

32: Bleating Zombies

An unexpected detour on today’s topics has Rich and I share musings on home servers for normal people (not a thing) and a small chat on the staggering proportions of the zombie apocalypse. Such things moved us towards the idea of digital permanence and ownership, and motions on Taylor Swift were also asked and answered, as though anyone might be concerned about such matters.

It has been widely suggested by professors and theologians that sports of all kinds are awful, and that social media is worse still. I find myself taking the “opening” out of “opening comments” for this week’s podcast, while Rich helps us land on more media-relevant topics such as Amazon’s new sci-fi series, and a finale with Just Not Enough Dragons.

30: HULK BASH

This week’s podcast was of such epic proportions, it spanned two days and incalculable cups of coffee to produce! This MAY have been due to some poor dietary choices on my part, but…meh… We spend some time smashing the finale of She-Hulk to pieces, give the Rings of Power a sendoff, and chat a bit on watches, as well as a gross video game that repulses at every turn, both in visuals and gameplay.
